A child needs good eyesight to learn and to read. It is the job of the eyes to see the letters or numbers on a page. It is the brain that puts together the letters and words we see to give meaning. Most children with reading problems are able to see just fine. It is their brain that is having difficulty making sense of the letters and words that they see. For most children, reading and learning problems are rarely from any eye problems. The best way to care for or deal with reading problems is through the child’s school. There are some people who recommend eye exercises (visual training) or special glasses to help a child. But since there is usually no eye problem going on, this doesn’t work.
